Vampire/Werewolf Abilities
Vampires:
- Can go out in daylight (only because it would limit characters with posting otherwise)
-Can look upon a cross, but cannot touch it. If you’re wearing a cross around your neck, you’re safe.
- Fine with look/touching garlic, but cannot ingest it.
- Vampiric charm, giving a character a chance to not get caught in the vampire's gaze.
- A werewolf bite will kill a vampire. The saliva of the werewolf is deadly.
- So is dead blood. They cannot drink from a dead person, nor drink from a person until it kills them.
- A vampire bite does not turn someone. There is a proper procedure for that:
- Vampires can be witches/wizards! Honestly, what if someone goes to Hogwarts, and is then bitten by a vampire? And besides, the Sanguini House at Hogwarts is specifically made to produce vampire/witches/wizards.
- Elder vampires are more powerful than newly sired ones – in strength, their charm, etc. Some do have special powers, but only the really old ones do.
- They have extendable fangs – they are visible when not being used, but when they’re feeding/about to feed, they extend.
Werewolves:
- Allergic to silver. Silver that gets into the bloodstream will poison and kill them without immediate attention.
- Only in werewolf form 3 nights a month.
- Can only have control of themself with the wolfsbane potion
- Eating monskhood or Aconite flower will also kill a werewolf. (this is not including drinking the wolfsbane potion, which is perfectly safe for the werewolf to drink, unless it is prepared incorrectly - that is why it is extremely hard to find a Potions Master that is willing to attempt concocting the brew).
- Also the flower from the aconite will keep a werewolf away. (like holding a cross up in front of a vampire)
Animagi (Animagus):
-A witch or wizard who can morph him or herself into a specific animal at will. It is a learned, rather than hereditary, skill, unlike those of a Metamorphmagus. All known animagi in the series take the same form as their Patronus. It is unknown whether all do.
-Only very powerful and skilled wizards are able to become Animagi. The process of becoming an Animagus is long and arduous, and has the potential to backfire and cause the transformation to go horribly wrong. Once the initial training is over, an Animagus can change at will at any time, with or without a wand.
-Each Animagus bears an identifying mark on their animal form that is caused by something on their human body. This may be a physical trait like dental structure, or an aquired trait such as glasses. For example, both Minerva McGonagall and Rita Skeeter have markings on their animagus forms caused by their spectacles. If an Animagus undergoes a major physical change, such as the loss of a limb, their animal form will also reflect that. Also, an animagus in animal form will retain the lifespan of an ordinary human being.
