SilverFang: Rise from the ashes.
SilverFang School of Sorcery is located somewhere in Northern Scotland and is devoted mostly to the Dark Arts and forbidden magic. Its rival school is Hogwarts, who did not know of it’s existence until 2040. Some of the people who had gone to Hogwarts “Back in the day” and were placed in Slytherin, became quite upset at how the school had turned out. Muggle borns were plenty after the fall of Voldemort, and now that Harry Potter had “Turned things around”, Slytherin house is not the way it used to be. This being the sad and painful truth, most of the former Slytherins who felt that their children should grow up in a school that had a house or two that was similar to Slytherin, searched for an alternative choice. SilverFang was that choice. Only those who looked hard enough or knew of it’s existence could find it and much like Hogwarts, SilverFang would allow anyone of wizarding blood to enter, just don’t expect to be well liked by two of the six houses if you are a Muggle-Born.
SilverFang was established in 1204 A.D by six wizards who, in their twisted minds, thought that the world would soon be overrun by schools who choose not to teach the Dark Arts. They believed that one day wizards would need to control the Muggles and their growth across the world. The only way that they saw how this could happen is if they killed any Muggle they saw until only a few remained. The remaining few would be there only as amusement or, gods forbid, breeding stock in case of low wizarding blood in the area.
The six founders were very hard pressed to come up with a good stock of witches and wizards to come learn at the school, as Hogwarts was stealing most of the young blood, and those that were not going there didn’t wish to learn the Dark Arts or the twisted ways of SilverFang’s founders.
Silvia Coldhart and Phillip Darkscale were mirror images of Salazar Slytherin. Their mind set, outlook on the world and quick wit, made them somewhat of an interesting addition to the school once it was up and running.
Johathen Skyborne, Matthew Windchaser, Alyssa Firewing and Aragh Wolfsbane all matched Hogwarts three peaceful founders to a degree.
Johathen and Matthew were most like Ravenclaw, but had a snotty out look on life. Believing any who didn’t get in either of their houses to be stupid and unworthy of their attention.
Alyssa had Hufflepuff’s heart, but she had a flaw the Hogwart’s founder didn’t. Alyssa didn’t trust those who didn’t make her house with hard work. Firewing is a house for hard workers and those who didn’t make the cut must be slackers and would be better off doing lesser jobs.
Aragh on the other hand would have been happy to have any one with a bit of brains and courage in his house. He followed Slytherin’s views to an extent, but also had some of Gryffindor’s pride and bravery.
The six founders were firm believers in the Dark Arts and blood purity, but they stood divided much like the founders of Hogwarts. Two believed that there should be no Muggles or Muggle borns in the world, while the other four believed that, although Muggles were an eye sore and nothing more then filthy beasts most of the time, Muggle borns had “Magic Blood” no matter how little and should be allowed to learn the arts. As time went on, the four founders that chose to allow Muggle borns into the school mellowed out, soon they had become like three of Hogwarts founders, in that Muggles and Muggle borns were alright and should be treated as equals. Their snotty nature and warring amongst themselves about who’s house was better also ceased, and a kind of harmony fell over those four houses and their members.
This did not go over well with the two remaining founders, who started a rebellion at the school in protest.
Coldhart and Darkscale houses followed their heads of house and burned most of the school to the ground in a terrible battle of the clans. With the Dark Arts being taught in all the houses, there was no one house that had the upper hand in the battle. When the next day dawned, Coldhart and Darkscale houses had been crushed, with only a few younger members left staggering on the fields. The Firewing, Skyborne and Windchaser houses had picked a pretty good fighting point (the dungeons) as their houses still had quite a few members. But it was Wolfsbane house that had won the war. Aragh had stopped the fight once he saw that the heads of Coldhart and Darkscale houses had fallen.
It took many a year for the school to be rebuilt, and all the heads but Aragh, had died before it was finished. Now much bigger and wiser then before, the school reopened in 1296 A.D. Now only Darkscale and Coldhart houses are allowed to teach the Dark Arts and these two houses have a separate part of the school for these classes.
A Quidditch Pitch was added once the game had become some what of a sport for the students when then were at home, and when Hogwarts started getting more students because of their Pitch.
Like Hogwarts, when the founders of SilverFang were alive, each sorted the students themselves. Now that they are gone, something else had to be used in order to sort the students into the six houses. Hogwarts had a hat, which was a good idea, but none of the founders of SilverFang wanted to be reminded of “That other school” when it came time to sort. So, three months before the unpredicted founder’s battle, Aragh sat down with his friends and started to rummage through their belongings for something to use as a sorting device.
It was simple. So simple they couldn’t believe that they had been doing the sorting themselves for so long. Next to Aragh’s desk, just to the left of his faithful, levitating teapot, sat a statue of a dragon. Six feet tall and two foot wide. The beast seemed posed to have a child sit in his coils.
The founders all rejoiced at the idea and placed a part of themselves within it. It was then moved to the Sorting Hall for the start of term, and moved to the north tower afterward. Because the hall was like Hogwart’s Great Hall, students would be sorted and then be able to eat right on the spot.
After the battle though, it was decided that two halls would be needed. One for sorting. The other to be used for eating, testing and just everyday use. So the statue was moved once more to the sorting hall and left there.
Now, in the year 2118. SilverFang is at it’s best, well known by most wizarding schools, even though they still can’t find it without being told where to look. It is frowned on still because of the fact that the Dark Arts can be learned there.
Although SilverFang prides itself mainly in teaching Potions, Dark Arts, Shifting (shape shifting) and Defense Against the Dark Arts. It still teaches much the same as Hogwarts and the other schools plus some.
Students don’t have to gather books or ingredients, as they will be provided for first years. Those who choose to bring their own, make sure that they gather all items that they would need if they were going to Hogwarts. Make sure that the school robes are black or deep blue, that they have two pairs of shoes. One dress pair for the start of term and end of term ball for third years and above, and one everyday pair. A wand that is suitable for Dark Arts, if the wand that chooses them is not, then extra training will be needed for those who make it into a house that allows such teachings.
No students below second year may bring their own broom to school. No large, illegal or magical pets! Owls, other types of mail carrying birds, rats, cats, snakes, small dogs and house elves are allowed. Crups, Kneazles and Nifflers are also allowed if kept leashed when in tow or in the dorms at all times, no pets in class or at the end and start of term feasts, but you may have them present during study or lesser meal times in the Gathering Hall.
The current head master is Nickolas Sorvenski, a Dark Lord and Animagus who will often take up the role as Professor of the Dark Arts. He is the current head of Darkscale house and seeker on the SilverFang Teacher’s Quidditch team.
The Quidditch teams are by house for the students, and a separate team is set up for the teachers to represent the whole school when playing against a rival school during the Festival of the Moon.
